Seahorses are tiny fishes that are named for the shape of their head, which looks like the head of a tiny horse. There are at least 50 species of seahorses.

Seahorses are particularly vulnerable to pressures on the ocean. They are heavily traded but generally it is non-selective fishing – and not demand for seahorses per se – that drives depletion. Many populations, particularly those in estuaries, are also suffering from habitat loss and degradation (e.g. destruction, sedimentation, eutrophication, pollution) as well as invasive species and climate change. However, fisheries are definitely the biggest pressure on seahorses as a genus, as on other marine life.

Qatica bracelets are hand crafted from salvaged fishing nets and lines removed from the Ocean. Each ring represents a promise to the planet to keep our oceans clean. Proceeds support ocean cleanup projects & awareness campaigns.
